Week 4 Update
Hello everyone, my name is Camrynn, the spirit lead of our team. This week, I learned a lot about the different features in CAD from assigning materials to using linear patterns. I finished the CAD as well and I started cutting the wood and bumper brackets.
Hello everyone! My name is Elie Wojewoda, and I am the CAD Lead on our team. In short, I am responsible for managing and training our members who are interested in developing the 3D models using a computer software called Onshape to design the robot before we physically manufacture and assemble it. CAD is vital in that it allows us to hammer out our designs in detail and ensure that things will fit together as intended prior to investing time and resources into fabricating and building the robot. This season has been a huge milestone for the CAD subteam as it historically was our smallest subteam (often causing our robot creation timeline to fall behind), and it has witnessed huge growth. This previous week, the team was able to finish the complete robot CAD in record time with more members than ever working together on it. I am super proud of the work that they have accomplished beginning all the way in the offseason when many members participated in workshops, a CADathon, and a CAD-vent (like an advent calendar leading up to Christmas, but with CAD drawings to recreate instead of chocolate or socks…). Since kickoff, many newer members contributed to CAD and persevered through the steep learning curve inherent to CAD and robot design, but now they have delivered a full robot CAD! Now the CAD team will be busy creating drawings for manufacturing and refining designs before maybe starting our off-season robot design…But I truly want to congratulate our new CAD members on their huge achievement and give a great thanks to the commitment of everyone who is involved with CAD!
