Outreach

FIRST Robotics Competition is not just about robots. Of equal importance is outreach to encourage STEM in the local and global community. AZTECH Robotics continues to try to pursue these ideals by hosting events with students of all ages, as well as aiding other robotics teams in any way we can. We hope to spread STEM and a love of learning to all students, no matter what background they come from.

Sunset Library STEM Event

AZTECH Robotics partnered with Sunset Chandler Library in order to teach over 40 elementary aged students about the engineering design process. Groups of students constructed their own shelves to hold as many pennies as possible, while also being able to see one of our robots in action and getting the opportunity to drive VEX robots.

Aprende STEM Lessons

Various members of AZTECH Robotics went to Aprende Middle School, a local middle school, in order to aid their Engineering Club in the creation of parade floats. In addition these students communicate regularly with the STEM teacher in order to answer questions and provide assistance.

Gender Minority Roundtable

Corona del Sol High School, where AZTECH Robotics is located, hosted the AZ East 2024 Regional. At this regional, our team created an opportunity for all gender minorities to come together during the competition and talk about their experiences in the STEM community. We plan to make this a reoccurring outreach event at all regionals we host.
